Angela Dukmajian has had strong aspirations and dreams since she was a little girl. She thought of every career she could possibly become because she was fascinated by the world. She knew that she loved to teach people which is a skill she applies to her brand Casanoi. It gives her the ability to connect with people and she looks forward to learning from others as she loves to keep an open mindset. Dukmajian’s love for sociology and anthropology inspires her love for Casanoi. She realizes that cultures, people, and language revolve around the tradition of dining. In her spare time, she has a love for hosting and cooking for friends and family. As these talents are already engraved into her, what would be a greater way than to create a brand that embodies these characteristics.
When Angela visited Spain and Portugal, she fell in love with the culture, aesthetics, food, people, and languages. She felt connected as a human being in every which way during her time there. Angela emphasizes the strong connection she noticed that the people had with their beautiful country.
In the public’s perspective, they might just view her brand as fine china and tableware but Angela wants people to understand that it is a symbol of connection. Amongst our brilliant conversations, our dinnerware serves as a tool that fuels these traditions. She finds happiness in the fact that we can look at a certain antique and find meaning in it from the colors, designs, relationship dynamics, and our personal interests.
Throughout her career, she has experienced feelings of self-doubt. Though, she is able to overcome such feelings through the desire to learn. She states “obstacles will always be there but you will learn to become better at solving them.” One has to not be afraid to try new things and to keep knocking on new doors. Angela has experienced closed doors before but she believes every no is a step closer to yes. She believes “what you are seeking is already seeking you.” In the industry, Angela has realized that you can’t please everyone but you have to be okay with that or you’ll continue the path to self-doubt. The most one can do is show up and trust the process which shows great intentions whether through business or personal life.
In adulthood, we can carry foundations that have been taught to us by our parents. Out of the many lessons, Angela has learned from her parents that there will be imperfect moments. Adulthood is full of obstacles but you need to have the vision and goals no matter the situation. If we lament in self-doubt, we will never get out of bed. If she can say one thing to her teenage-girl self, she would say “don’t worry about a thing.” Life as a teen can be comical and lovely but your life will drastically change as an adult. She recalled a memory about her old diary where a moment in her life felt overwhelming. She finds pleasure in laughing about her teen years where the things that felt most serious to her once are now just silly memories. Though, even as adults, our inner-child will always be inside of us running around somewhere.
Angela wants other women to learn to not be afraid. Our cultures can influence our ideologies. While growing up in an Armenian-Middle Eastern culture, she learned that girls can have more restrictions placed upon them but as she became older, she has learned to shed these beliefs. She states “people expect girls to be more afraid,” but when people learn about her business, they are impressed as it takes courage to build a great brand. She believed in herself, the product, and her dreams so she ran with it. She states “it comes from not being afraid of the unknown.” Fear cannot hold us back from what we want to accomplish. Angela’s passion for cultural traditions, connection, and learning are fueled into Casanoi and she represents her brand with love, growth, and positivity.
